Aberystwyth Challenge Leader 2021Choosing to be a Challenge Leader was one of the best decisions I ever made. Not only was the challenge itself incredible but knowing that I enabled so many others share that experience made it even more rewarding. You make friends for life and we still all meet up as a team every month for a reunion

Nottingham Challenge Leader 2024Choose a Challenge is very unique. Allowing students to take on some of the best challenges out there, all with a group of fellow uni mates who will become friends for life, is very special. I have loved being able to bring that group together and build a team.

UEA Challenge Leader 2021A great opportunity to learn more about fundraising, marketing and leadership I've learnt a lot from being a Challenge Leader. It's also a great chance to learn more about yourself and your personal strengths. Since then I've begun working in the charity sector encouraging people to go on all sorts of adventures!

Plymouth Challenge Leader 2017I loved being a Choose a Challenge Leader. It allowed me to work with a great charity, whose work I really agreed with and raise a substantial amount of money for them. I also got to meet a group of new people and learnt a new set of skills to help facilitate my team to raise as much money as possible money. Looking back at uni, the Morocco High Atlas trip and the overall experience I had as a leader are some of my fondest memories.

Plymouth Challenge Leader 2019I wanted to sign up as a Challenger Leader because I wanted something that would challenge me whilst allowing me to support others and fundraise for charity whilst studying. I would recommend signing up as a Challenger Leader if you are interested in developing leadership skills in an informal environment… don’t do what I did and leave it until your final year to do this because I would’ve loved to have been a challenge leader for a second year!

Warwick Challenge Leader 2020Being a Challenge Leader was an insanely cool experience. Both the build up to the challenge by raising money for an amazing charity, alongside climbing the Three Peaks was one of the highlights of my university degree. You will meet many cool people and get outside of your comfort zone which has been so important for me and many others I have spoken to who have been a Challenge Leader!
The responsibilities
Recruit a team of enthusiastic fundraisers and travellers!
Attend fresher’s fairs, presentations and promotional events on campus - Get the word out there as best as you can!
Coordinate group fundraisers with your charity support staff.
Host exciting group socials and training for your team!
WHAT NEXT?
As a challenge leader, you’ll be central to the success of the event. With our help, you’ll make a recruitment plan specific to your campus and we’ll provide you with all the materials to help you recruit a team of fellow students. Once your team are on board, you will work alongside the Student Fundraising Officers at your chosen charity to provide one-to-one and group support to help get everyone to their fundraising targets and our team will provide you with all the support for the trip itself, including travel advice, training, pre-departure briefings, and more.
Remember, the challenge isn’t just about making it to the summit of the 3 Peaks, or the finish line at the Budapest Marathon – it’s about raising crucial funds for incredible charities. You will be responsible for helping your team meet fundraising targets. There’s no better feeling than knowing what that money can do, and the fact you raised it. Why not check out some of the work our amazing charity partners do here.
