THE TREK

Tackle the trek which is considered Britain's toughest outdoor challenge, taking on the highest mountains of England, Wales and Scotland as you summit Scafell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis on an incredible hike.

This challenge will see you climbing 5,200 feet and trekking 25 miles through magnificent scenery with your fellow adventurers.

This is a tough hike but the amazing views of rolling green hills and shimmering lakes will be worth the climb.

TREK ITINERARY

DAY 1
Meet at Glasgow Central Station or your accommodation in Fort William. You will then travel with your minibus and Choose a Challenge representatives up to Fort William. Your overnight accommodation will be at a hostel near the base of Ben Nevis which allows for a quick an easy start on Ben Nevis.

DAY 2

It will be a very early start at Glen Nevis today. Before setting off, breakfast will be provided and you will be given a full briefing on the challenge ahead by your mountain guides. This briefing will focus upon current weather conditions, safety procedures and ensuring that you have the correct equipment. After conquering Scotland’s highest peak, you will board the bus for the afternoon drive to the Lake District. The transfer to Wasdale Head will take approximately 6-7 hours (traffic dependent), but we will also include a stop where you can purchase dinner. Although Scafell Pike is the smallest of the Three Peaks, it has the steepest and toughest terrain. A mixture of paths, boulders, fields and scree. Breakfast included.

DAY 3
Snowdon is the most mountainous of the three peaks and a few steep rocky outcrops will test any weary legs, so we advise you watch your footing. After around 4-5 hours trekking, you will have conquered the Three Peaks challenge! Weather permitting, you will have stunning views of the sunrise over Snowdonia National Park at the summit - the perfect backdrop for a celebratory team photo. After descending, you will be back on the buses to return to Chester in the early afternoon, with good transport links for you to continue your onward journey. Breakfast and packed lunch included.

Hostel Accommodation:

The full cost of this challenge is £590. You will be required to pay the registration fee of £195 at the time of booking and the final balance of £395 which is due 10 weeks before departure.

Whilst registering for the challenge, you will still be asked to select a charity. This charity will receive a notification of your registration and may support you with any fundraising you may wish to do alongside your challenge - however, there is no obligation to fundraise and there is no minimum sponsorship amount due.

Once your final balance has been settled at or before 10 weeeks prior to departure, your place on the trip will be confirmed and you'll be ready to take on the challenge of a lifetime!

You will be required to pay the registration fee of £195 at the time of booking, and you'll then need to raise a minimum sponsorship amount of £790 for your nominated charity, which usually needs to be raised in full by 8 weeks prior to your departure.

Once you hit that all-important fundraising target and your place on the challenge is confirmed, the charity will use this money to cover the remaining costs of your challenge (which will never exceed 50% of your fundraising target).

The remainder of your fundraising (never less than 50% of your fundraising target) will stay with your charity, as a donation to their vital work. In addition, 100% of any Gift Aid and every single pound that you raise above your target will stay with your charity.

When taking on a challenge with us, you can rest assured that the money you fundraise throughout the year will go directly to the charity you are supporting.

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

How difficult is this challenge?

We have four difficulty levels for our treks, which take into account factors like altitude, terrain, weather conditions and more. The rating for this trip is as below:

Tough - for our tough challenges plenty of training will be required and some previous experience of trekking or hiking would be a bonus!

You will face some relatively difficult terrains and be physically tested as you step out of your comfort zone.

Ideal for those who are looking for their first multi-day fundraising adventure.

What are the provisions like?

The night before trek start you will be accommodated in bunkhouse or similar accommodation in Fort William or Glen Nevis. This accommodation will be basic but comfortable.

During the event you will spend long hours on the minibuses, including overnight. Long drives will involve multiple stops en-route for toilet and food breaks.

At the end of the event you will be dropped off in Manchester for your onward travel.

Do I need mountaineering skills?

Nope! One of the huge benefits of the Three Peaks challenge is that you do not need any specialist mountaineering skills, experience or equipment to complete the challenge.

This non-technical climb will be a real test of your mental and physical resilience - but it does not require you to be a seasoned mountain climber. However, you absolutely must train for this event, as it is considerably tougher than many expect.

What will the group size be?

Group sizes may vary, but will almost always include somewhere between 10 - 40 participants.
