Why Take on the London to Paris Cycling Challenge

If you’re into cycling and you’re looking for a way to push yourself while still having fun, a cycling challenge can be the perfect solution. And with its iconic finishing line – the Eiffel Tower – incredible scenery, and simple accessibility, London to Paris has become an aspirational route. With three days of cycling, including traversing the sensational Avenue Verte, it’s the ultimate introduction to cycling tourism.

Still need convincing? Here’s five reasons why you need to consider the London to Paris cycling challenge.

Five Reasons to Consider Taking on the London to Paris Cycling Challenge

It’s experiential vs competitive

If you’re looking for a way to build your fitness and really challenge yourself, there are a number of amateur competitive cycling events around. But while there’s little doubt that cycle racing can be rewarding, it’s maybe not the way most of us want to spend our annual holiday. The London to Paris cycling challenge is hard work. It will push you physically. You may well cycle more than you have ever done in a limited period before – covering up to 108km a day, with up to seven hours in the saddle. But it’s also really good fun. We pace the journey so that A) it’s more accessible, and B) it’s more enjoyable. We want you to be able to see the sights, not just pass them in a blur. Because we want to you remember this experience for more than just your burning thighs!

It's a genuine challenge

The itinerary of the Choose a Challenge cycle experience will take you from Greenwich Park to the foot of the Eiffel Tower. Covering a distance of just over 280km (approx. 174 miles) in three days of cycling. Even for an experienced cyclist, that’s a lot of time in the saddle. So, if you’re looking for a way to test or push yourself, this is it.

It’s companionable

Completing any kind of personal challenge always carries its own reward. But it’s so much more enjoyable when it’s a shared experience. Whether you book your own corporate or university challenge, or join an existing planned challenge (on your own or with friends), you’ll be sharing the experience with like-minded people. You can push each other along through the difficult parts – and hour six of day two can be mentally demanding. And enjoy the highs together.

It doesn’t take too long

With a free morning to enjoy the sights and shops of Paris, our cycling challenge takes just four days to complete. Including the journey home. Which means that you can do something worth bragging about without using up more than a long weekend.

It’s a fun and easy way to do something memorable

Of course, as with any challenge, it is possible to go it alone. To plan your own adventure. But there are several reasons why joining an organised challenge can make more sense. And most of them come down to convenience. Along with your return transportation (and that of your bike), all of your accommodation is arranged for you. Selected meals are also provided. You don’t have to worry about planning your route – or following it – because all of that is managed for you. And, should anything go wrong, you can be confident of ABTA and ATOL protection.

Cycling between London and Paris isn’t easy. But we couldn’t call it a ‘challenge’ if it was! And taking a route that will present a whole range of sites and experiences, it is the ideal way to test your cycling metal.
