Introducing our 2019 partners: National Autistic Society

Over the next 2 weeks, we're going to be introducing our charity partners for 2019! You'll be able to fundraise for any of these charities if you're taking part one of our 2019 trekking or marathon challenges.

Another brand new face for 2019 are the National Autistic Society

The National Autistic Society is the leading UK charity for all those people whose lives are touched by autism every day. While most people have heard of autism, many struggle to define it.

Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them.

Around 700,000 people in the UK are on the autism spectrum. Together with their families, this means autism is a part of daily life for 2.8 million people. The National Autistic Society provide information, helpline support, pioneering services and campaign for a better world for autistic people, until everyone understands.

The scope of their support includes: branches, schools, an autism helpline, professional training and awareness campaigns. Fundraising for NAS, your money will go to some of these services - and £400 funds the training of one Parent-to-Parent volunteers - who will support 43 people, annually.

Meet your charity rep!

Supporting our NAS fundraisers will be the wonderful Rachel Lynch, who has a wealth of experience both working in charity and in adventure challenges since she left Loughborough RAG in 2016. She's been with NAS since then, having also worked at Meningitis Research Foundation.

In her time in student fundraising, Rachel has taken on three challenges - summiting Kilimanjaro, conquering Everest Base Camp, and discovering the hidden Inca city of Machu Picchu!

We're super stoked to have the National Autistic Society on board, and we hope you'll consider supporting them by joining a challenge in 2019!
